Mobile phone technologies in cheap mobiles
Tuesday July 22, 2008
Cheap mobiles will rarely have the every latest technology, but they will often contain mobile phone technologies that are expected from them. For instance, cheap mobiles never used to have video telephony capabilities. These days, however, cheap mobiles often do have mobile telephony capabilities. This particular example is quite interesting in demonstrating how cheap mobiles can actually have a technological advantage over top-of-the-range ones.
When video telephony first came out, only those who could afford mobiles with such capabilities could use them. This essentially made such technology next to useless, as video calls can only be made to other phones with video calling features. People did desire the technology, however, and soon enough the price came down. Now that cheap mobile are often 3G mobiles and 3G for business is becoming more widespread, video calls are much more viable. Cheap mobiles may not always be state-of-the-art but they will generally get technology at a stage where it can become useful rather than just an interesting extra feature.
