What Kind Of Mobile Phone Credit Is Best For You?

Monday October 27, 2008

Mobile phone plans from companies such as Optus Mobile and Telstra Mobile come in many varieties for your cheap mobiles. Depending on your usage needs, certain types of mobile phone plans will be more useful than others. It can sometimes be difficult to choose the right plans for your cheap mobiles, as you can easily misjudge your needs. The following is an overview of several common types of mobile phone plans and how they can cost you more or less.

Prepaid credit

Prepaid credit is often the worst deal available to frequent users of mobile phones, as prepaid credit often has some of the worst possible rates on calls and text messages. Also, cheap mobiles like those available on contracts will normally have to be paid for in full.

If you use your cheap mobiles only on a rare occasion and tend to receive more calls than you make, prepaid credit may be a good deal for you. Most people will find that it quickly becomes costly, however.

Monthly payment plans

Those who are likely to make a large number of calls but who do not have a good idea of how many calls they are likely to make may find mobile phone plans that charge your usage by the month to be good value. These mobile phone plans will often have decent rates on all services, but those who merely make voice calls and send text messages may find them to be more expensive than other types of mobile phone plans that are available. You will likely also be able to choose from a range of cheap mobiles or free mobiles to use on your plan.

Capped plans

As long as you choose a reasonable amount of credit, capped mobile phone plans can be excellent value. Many restrict the services covered by the cap, however, so you must remain aware of what you are using and budget for extra charges on services that you use only rarely. Some capped plans for 3G mobiles will include extras such as some data allowance for Internet use, but this is by no means standard. With capped plans, extra usage charges can leave you with a massive bill by the end of the month. Avoid this by choosing an appropriately priced plan from the beginning. The price level you choose will also affect the range of cheap mobiles you may package with the plan.
