3G Mobiles

What is 3G?

You may all know 3G to refer to the third generation – 3g mobile phone technology. It is, so far, the most popular of the latest developments in the telecommunication industry after mobile phone users have discovered how much more convenient and more helpful it is to their communicating needs.

3G technology comes after 1G and 2G technology. Initially, with the 1G technology, only very few people can communicate with each other because one user uses two frequencies to send and receive calls. This technology also does not offer very clear and smooth transmission so the 2G system was developed.

The resulting 2G system enabled more users to communicate as it used lesser frequencies. It also introduced the concept of time division in signal transmission. Plus, with 2G, even data may be sent to mobiles making the new system popular.

However, mobile phone subscribers needed more than what 2G had to offer so the 3G was developed. This system caters to more subscribers through better features. While the 2G could transmit data and voice, 3G enabled video calling as well as wireless broadband connection. The roaming service in mobiles are also improved by 3G technology.

How Does 3G Work?

Like any digital cellular system, 3G works by making use of cells of different sizes. Cells in 3G mobiles connect to major cell sites when the gadgets are activated. When cells in major sites receive the signals from mobile phones, whatever data that come from these gadgets are then transmitted to the targeted receivers of the data.

What makes 3G different from other digital and cellular technologies is that 3G performs its transmission at a very high speed. Large groups of varying information may be sent through a specific bandwidth in so little time, usually, at least five Mb to a maximum ten Mb every second. 3G technology, therefore, is so budget friendly.
